By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

For guests of The Yachts of Seabourn, 2010 and 2011 will see many more opportunities to have a “trip of a lifetime” in the exotic, Far East.

Join Seabourn Pride and Seabourn Spirit as they explore these new Asian destinations:

Indonesia
Seabourn will soon be exploring the Indonesian archipelago for the first time in many years, with numerous new experiences and destinations to discover. Start at Semarang, gateway to the huge Buddhist temple complex of Borobudur, then visit Lombok, to see ancient Sassak weaving villages and a unique temple where Muslims and Hindus worship together.Pull into Padang Bay in Bali, where a sojourn for the senses, more than 10,000 temples and the steep slopes of the Navel of the World await. On Komodo Island, witness fearsome Komodo Dragons, virtually unchanged since dinosaurs walked the earth. And experience Ujung Pandang on Sulawesi, one of Indonesia&rsquos most colorful cities, its bay graced with classic sailing prahu beneath spectacular sunsets, and friendly locals are excited to chat up visitors.

Malaysia
Long before the Hamptons hit their stride there was Sandakan, once the second capital of British North Borneo and, during its heyday as a timber center, home to the greatest concentration of millionaires anywhere. Though its status as a capital ended long ago, the city remains an important economic center as well as a gateway to a region of fascinating wildlife including orangutans, proboscis monkeys and turtles. Across the state of Sabah, Kota Kinabaluis one of Southeast Asia&rsquos hidden treasures, welcoming Seabourn guests with lush primary rainforest, picture-perfect beaches and coral reefs teeming with marine life. From wild orchids to orangutans, colorful customs to the ultimate beach, it&rsquos a fulfilling stop. Adventurous souls can look forward to sailing upriver for a new shore excursion to Kuching, the capital of Serawak, to experience the fast-disappearing lifestyle of the once-feared Dyak tribe, which practiced head-hunting well into last century.

Korea
Many new ports await Seabourn in Korea. Experience Jeju Island, a land of fantasy and mystery located southwest of the Korean Peninsula. The island’s unique culture and volcano-shaped scenery are major draws for visitors, as are a magnificent sculpture park, heritage museum, folk villages, and an elegant tea museum. During Seabourn’s first-ever stop in Mokpo, visit a UNESCO World Heritage Stone Age dolmen site, sample exotic cuisine, and gaze in wonder at richly decorated temples and undulating tea plantations. New shore excursions to the Korean capital of Seoul assure a well-rounded experience, including Yeosu, site of the 2012 World Expo, and Busan, the gateway to Gyeongju, the 7th-century capital of the Shilla dynasty and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
