Small Luxury Hotels, a collection of over 450 hotels under 200 rooms, is planning to upgrade its web site by providing pictures of each room category at each of its hotels by the end of the year, including suites, Group Executive Director Richard Hyde told Elite Traveler. As each property is different, Hyde believes the updated web site will enable travelers to better see what they are getting and make it easier for them to book with confidence. Room description will be precise down to the “thread count,” he said.
The group is also expanding its “Experiences” program which incorporates gastronomy, spa, culture and adventure and currently includes 80 of its worldwide properties. Examples are an SLH hotel in Talin, Estonia which offers a class in learning how to swordfight, while Sky Lodge in Utah has an experience where guests engage in Olympic-style bobsledding.
The group expects membership to grow to more than 500 hotels by 2009, with an average size of 50 rooms per hotel.
For the fall, SLH will also debut a Gastronomy program taking advantage of a number of its hotels that have close associations with local vineyards, or in some cases, own their own vineyards.
A dedicated group department caters to full and partial takeovers, executive meetings, weddings and special events for any SLH property. Contact Lona.email@example.com
