The Abaco Club On Winding Bay, A Ritz-Carlton Managed Club Offers Bahama Retreat and Ownership Opportunities

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

ABACO, The Bahamas – The Ritz-Carlton lifestyle at The Abaco Club on Winding Bay is what Members and guests of this Bahamian island retreat now enjoy through real estate options ranging from the purchase of home sites or turnkey cottages to an exciting new fractional ownership program with The Ritz-Carlton Club.

Known for its secluded, Member-only residential atmosphere, the 534-acre Club boasts more than two miles of sweeping powder soft sand, stunning turquoise waters and a multitude of activities, from golf and flats fly-fishing to horseback riding and spa treatments. For those who desire Ritz-Carlton service coupled with the intimacy of one’s own home, select estate lots and turn-key cottages are available, starting from $1 million and $1.7 million respectively.

“The setting at The Abaco Club on Winding Bay is intentionally peaceful and remote,” said Larry Coats, senior director of sales at the property. “The Club provides an opportunity for complete escapism, and yet offers modern-day luxuries.”

The remaining eight estate lots are at the doorstep of tranquil, Winding Bay and the world’s first Scottish-style tropical links golf course – each lot offering 200 feet of beach or golf frontage. Starting at one acre, estate lots provide the opportunity to build a luxurious home on Abaco, far from the hustle and bustle, and yet with the peace of mind that The Ritz-Carlton will care for the property. Prices range from $1-3 million depending on location.

The hilltop cottages – some with more than 1,000 feet of deck space – overlook either Winding Bay or the 18th fairway and Atlantic Ocean. The turn-key cottages, which start at $1.7 million, offer the finest amenities with two- to four-bedroom floor plans boasting vaulted ceilings, garden tubs and/or outdoor showers, a fully-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, custom furnishings and Italian linens in the bedrooms.

The Ritz-Carlton Club, Abaco fractional program is a points-based concept where Members have three membership options:
Select Membership – 500 points
Preferred Membership – 1,000 points
Premium Membership – 1,500 points

The Ritz-Carlton Club, Abaco is targeted for first phase occupancy in December 2008, and ultimately offering 16 homes in the program.

When making a reservation, Members may choose from four, fully furnished home options. The cabanas will provide approximately 570 square feet of living space. Overlooking Winding Bay, cliff-side cottages will include from two- to three-bedroom floor plans (roughly 1,656 – 2,385 square feet). Two-story, four-bedroom fairway villas (approximately 2,800 square feet) will meander along the golf course, and finally, two-story beachfront cottages will offer a three-bedroom floor plan at approximately 2,250 square feet. All homes will boast a blend of southern hospitality with large porches and comfortable furnishings, as well as a Caribbean color palette.

Furthermore, Members delight in the octagonally-designed clubhouse featuring island fare and entertainment, as well as stunning views of the double crescent beach, and the casual bar and grill at the water’s edge. There, Members also discover numerous water activities, including snorkeling at a nearby coral reef.
