The Balmoral Launches a Mythical Family Affair Inspired by the Pixar’s New Film

Edinburgh, Scotland – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

In celebration of the much-anticipated release of Disney Pixar’s new fairytale Brave, Rocco Forte’s The Balmoral has created a Mythical Family Affair experience, which will give young guests the opportunity to experience the land that inspired the film by emulating the lead character’s desire to explore the kingdom.

Set in tenth-century Scotland, a rugged and mythical time, the film features Merida, a skilled archer and daughter of royalty whose decisions bring chaos to the country. Located on the world-famous Princes Street and moments away from the main historical attractions in Edinburgh, The Balmoral offers the perfect location from which to discover Scotland’s rich history, epic battles and mythical legends, which served as the inspiration for the film.

With fast-track access to nearby Edinburgh Castle, families can take a step back in time and immerse themselves in the medieval Brave age. Guests can discover the many highlights behind this instantly recognizable fortress including the glittering crown jewels, The Honors of the Kingdom, and the ancient coronation seat of Kings, The Stone of Destiny.

Edinburgh Castle dominates over the city’s Old Town where guests can discover a collection of medieval streets and courts leading off of the Royal Mile. Those brave enough can visit The Real Mary King’s Close and explore the city’s hidden underground streets which have remained frozen in time since the 17th century.

Once firmly acquainted with the Old Town, the nearby National Museum of Scotland offers a treasure trove of ancient artifacts and precious objects linked to Scotland¹s history. Many of the images on display inspired the creators of Brave including the Lewis Chessmen: a collection of 12-century chess pieces which are considered one of the most famous archaeological finds in Scottish history and are brought to life in the animated adventure.

Guests can conclude their day of discovery by returning to The Balmoral to relax in the comfort of an executive suite where children can curl-up in their mini robes and slippers, and enjoy the child-friendly in-room dining menu.

The Balmoral¹s dedicated concierge team will also be on hand to arrange bespoke itineraries and tours of the Highlands, for guests who wish to discover more of the great land that inspired Brave.
