The Hay-Adams Reopens Its Doors

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Washington, D.C. – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine

The Hay-Adams announced its reopening to the public after a renovation to modernize and update guest accommodations while remaining true to its historic roots. This is the hotel’s second largest enhancement, after a $20 million renovation in March 2002.

Guests of the Hay-Adams will enjoy elevator improvements, a modernized Business Center and a new fitness center. The roof terrace event space, the “Top of the Hay” is scheduled for completion in January 2011. Interconnecting function rooms will be available individually or in combination, allowing guests to customize the space for events with appropriate room sizing. Depending on the guest list, this area can host 15 to 300 people.

With the vision of interior designer Tom Pheasant and architectural design firm, Hartman-Cox Architects, the Hay-Adams updated its aesthetics and décor with new color palettes, mosaic tiles, marble floors, custom-designed carpets and Scalamandre fabrics. The Hay-Adams revamped amenities to include 300-Count Frette® linens, European Etro® toiletries, goose-down duvet covers, plush robes and slippers.

“At the Hay-Adams, we strive to deliver exceptional service and provide leading technology and amenities. Part of our mission for the renovation was to ensure we met the needs of our business travelers while maintaining our high level of commitment to all guests,” said Hans Bruland, Vice President and General Manager of the Hay-Adams.

Recognizing the needs of the Hay-Adams business traveler, the hotel technologically enhanced guestrooms and meeting spaces, adding new widescreen 37″ HD flat screen televisions with more than 75 digital channels in every room and complimentary access to Wi-Fi and high-speed connectivity in all public areas, meeting rooms and guest rooms. The hotel also installed a Bose Wave Music CD System with iPod capability in every room along with three two-line telephones and an in-room safe that can accommodate a laptop computer.
