Hot Springs, Virginia – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
The Homestead, an elite resort since 1766, is ringing out the summer season with a splash. The 3,000-acre resort recently opened Mountain Rush, a water park featuring thrills and spills for all ages.
Mountain Rush is part of the new two-acre Allegheny Springs, a component of the resort’s $25 million transformation. The park offers options for guests of all ages and sizes, including two 100-foot water slides and a 400-foot lazy river. If thrilling drops and rides are not your style, the park also has winding footpaths, a separate family pool and whirlpool and a sandy beach for guests to enjoy. The Homestead ensures that the fun does not have to end when the summer season comes to a close, as the family pool will remain open for guests to relax at during the winter season. During the cold weather months, the water play zone will be transformed into a winter wonderland ice rink.
In addition to the new water park, the 2012 phase of renovations also includes a new miniature golf course, the Mini Cascades, and the tranquil Jefferson Springs spa garden. The second phase scheduled for 2013 will incorporate new dining experiences, including Jefferson’s Grille, and an updated Spa interior.
