The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt was the only hotel to win two awards at the Condé Nast Johansens 2011 Annual Awards for Excellence. The hotel received the Best Venue and Hotel that accommodate groups of over 100 and the Most Excellent MICE Award for 2011. The glamorous event at The Mayfair Hotel in London was attended by some of the most luxurious and reputable hotels in Ireland, Great Britain and Europe. The MICE category is new to the renowned awards ceremony and was introduced to recognise hotels and venues that demonstrate excellence throughout the customer’s event experience as well as a passion for ensuring that every event achieves the maximum possible success.
The Judging panel for the Most Excellence MICE Award is comprised of experienced buyers, MICE specialist hoteliers, MICE industry experts and a representative of Condé Nast. The judges were Shawn Pisani, director of Industry Relations EMEA, HelmsBriscoe; Carole McKellar, executive director, Europe, HelmsBriscoe; Alan Newton, global supply chain director – EventCom, Grass Roots; Didier Scaillet, chief development officer, MPI & MPI Foundation; and Michelle Russell, events director for GQ and Glamour Magazine.
On receiving the news of the awards, general manager Max Zanardi commented, ”this is a great win for The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt. These awards are recognised across the world and to receive an award for the Meetings and Events industry is particularly important for the hotel also.
