Veuve Clicquot Champagne is bringing the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, one of the season’s most anticipated events, back to New York on Sunday, June 27, 2010.
The event will take place on Governors Island, just a quick ferry ride from downtown Manhattan, and promises to deliver the signature glamor and excitement of “the sport of kings”. Now in its third year, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic attracts a fashion-forward crowd from around the world, offering the ultimate in champagne sipping, people-watching and of course, polo, with world-class players like event co-chair Nacho Figueras—all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
The 2010 Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic will once again benefit the American Friends of Sentebale. Sentebale, which was founded in 2004 by HRH Prince Henry of Wales and HRH Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in honor of their mothers, strives to help orphans and at-risk children in Lesotho, Southern Africa.
Last year’s event was a smash success, drawing over 6,000 picnic-goers and VIP spectators like Madonna, Kate Hudson, Marc Jacobs, Chloe Sevigny, LL Cool J and Donna Karan, all cheering on Prince Harry and Nacho Figueras as they went head-to-head on the polo field.
Lunch on the Lawn picnic tickets are $250 per person and will be on sale starting today, May 17th, on www.vcseason.com. Ticket holders gain access to all of the glamorous action, unlimited Veuve Clicquot, a custom Polo picnic blanket and a gourmet picnic lunch developed by Michael Romano, culinary director for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, and catered by their premier culinary arm, Hudson Yards.
