On Sunday September 12, 2010, Montblanc unveiled the John Lennon Edition writing instrument and launched a program that will support access to music education to children around the world.
To commemorate the launch of this edition, Montblanc hosted five simultaneous events in major cities around the world to celebrate Lennon’s global message of peace and love and the 70th anniversary of one of the most talented artists ever to write music history.
The New York City launch event took place in a location overlooking Central Park, only a few blocks from where Lennon lived in his final years. It was hosted by Susan Sarandon, and featured the presentation of the pen, followed by a musical performance by Christina Aguilera and the US premiere of Sam Taylor-Wood’s Nowhere Boy, a film about Lennon’s early years.
Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Mexico City also hosted simultaneous satellite events. Yoko Ono attended the launch event in Berlin.
For more than 20 years, Montblanc has been involved in nurturing, preserving and developing artistic talent through its numerous initiatives across the world. With such a history, Montblanc, also known as the “culture brand”, is honoring Lennon’s life, his music and his dreams by donating proceeds of the John Lennon Edition to selected cultural projects that support music education around the world, such as the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a US non-profit organization providing young people with the means to learn how to compose, play, perform, record and produce songs and music videos.
The Montblanc John Lennon Edition is available in Montblanc boutiques worldwide.
