The Chairman is the world’s first luxury hybrid smart phone produced under the marquis partnership between Ulysse Nardin, an industry leader in mechanical timepieces, and SCI Innovations, a pioneer in hybrid cell phone technology. A fusion between the historical, mechanical art of watch-making with modern technology, the Chairman revolutionizes the luxury mobile phone marketplace. A first for the mobile phone industry, the Chairman shares common visual DNA with Ulysse Nardin timepieces. Many of the iconic design elements that make Ulysse Nardin timepieces so unique are incorporated into the design of the Chairman including the distinctive Ulysse Nardin mechanical watch rotor, the utilization of signature Ulysse Nardin colors and precious metals, as well as the application of black rubber on the reverse of select Chairman smartphones – reminiscent of the black rubber strap of many Ulysse Nardin creations.
Morten Nielsen and Bobby Yampolsky, co-founders of SCI Innovations, have announced a series of new specifications and improvements on the Chairman that dynamically enhance the smart phone originally introduced to the world at BaselWorld 2009.
An amazing work of design and craftsmanship, the original Chairman the team displayed generated so much interest and demand that SCI Innovations not only had to admit they had underestimated the ripple effect their debut would create, but also realized that this demand illustrated a greater opportunity to be had: the chance to further improve the Chairman’s technical capabilities.
The result? A truly modern luxury mobile instrument. The newly improved Chairman is now equipped with the Google Android operating system. This open platform offers SCI Innovations’ designers and engineers the freedom to create integrated applications with impressive capabilities for a wide variety of tasks, as well as provide customers with an interface that is intuitive to navigate and easy to use.
Previously introduced as a 2G phone equipped with a 2.8’’ sapphire crystal capacitive touch screen, the new 3G Chairman features 32 GB of memory and an expanded 3.2’’ screen, offering users a larger useable screen surface area and greater functionality. Additionally, the energy output of the proprietary rotor, as well as the overall battery life, have been greatly improved.

To complement the hand-held masterpiece, SCI Innovations created the world’s finest docking station to be sold with the Chairman. A work of art in its own right, and resembling the famed “Ulysse Nardin Ship Chronometers,” this gorgeous lacquered wooden docking station is as multi-functional as it is stylish. A unique, one-of-a-kind creation, the attractive docking station charges the battery, backs-up all data to an exterior USB and includes a pair of premium speakers which can be driven by most Bluetooth devices. Following the Chairman’s successful introduction at last year’s BaselWorld, SCI Innovations has secured an independent location at BaselWorld 2010 located at Hall 4.1, Stand #A05. Following BaselWorld 2010, The Chairman will be available at approximately twenty Ulysse Nardin dealers in nine countries, including the United States, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Abu Dhabi, Lebanon and Canada. Because of the technical craftsmanship required, and the exacting standards of the SCI Innovations and Ulysse Nardin partnership, initially only 6,000 to 7,000 phones can be produced each year. Delivery for units will commence in the second quarter of 2010.
