Looking back over more than a century’s worth of fine jewelry-making, Van Cleef & Arpels has opened a retrospective exhibition that combines history and haute joaillerie. Hosted at Tokyo’s acclaimed Mori Arts Center, the showcase is sure to attract fans from all over the world.
Entitled “The Spirit of Beauty”, the exhibit will feature around 290 pieces—including watches, jewels, fashion accessories and objets d’art—from exclusive estates as well as the house’s own private collection. Key pieces include the Spirit of Nature, an extraordinary Mystery Set box that dates back to 1938 and features stunning sapphire hummingbird and ruby flower detailing, and the Spirit of Elegance, a 1951 Zip necklace that was inspired by a piece created for the Duchess of Windsor in 1939.
“The Spirit of Beauty” will run now through January 17th, 2010. Visit www.vancleef-arpels.com for more information.
