The product of a collaboration between Boston-based architect William Rawn, internationally renowned sustainable design firm TRO|Jung|Brannen, and award-winning New York design team Bentel & Bentel, the W Boston is bringing serious style to Beantown.
Bentel & Bentel imagined the hotel grounds as a “virtual garden”, using shapes, colors and a variety of materials to create an urban oasis that pays homage to Boston Common, the Public Garden and the city’s other prominent green spaces. The hotel’s interiors center around steel “tendrils” that define spaces and catch the eye, with light entering from both above and below.
Each of the different W room categories, all designed by Bentel & Bentel, utilizes combinations of textures, colors, custom furniture and lighting for accommodations that are welcoming, warm and stylish. A color palette of cool grays, blues, browns and violets predominates throughout.
The exclusive new restaurant is Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s casual eatery Market, which draws from French, Asian and Italian cuisines and emphasizes fresh ingredients sourced within the New England region. Descent, an underground bar and lounge from master mixologist Sasha Petraske— New York hotspot Milk and Honey fame—is slated to open in early 2010.
Other onsite perks include Boston’s first Bliss Spa, coming early next year, an outpost of W Hotels’ The Store, and SWEAT, W Hotels’ top-of-the-line fitness facilities.
