XV Beacon Names New GM

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

XV Beacon in Boston has named Amy Finsilver as General Manager. The appointment marks a return engagement for Finsilver, who is a veteran of the local hotel scene and served as opening Assistant General Manager of the chic 60-room boutique hotel on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. As General Manager, Finsilver utilizes her wide and varied hospitality experience to direct all operations. This includes overseeing the property enhancements leading up to the hotel’s 10th anniversary, reorganizing and redesigning the hotel’s website, retraining employees to exemplary standards and maintaining incomparable luxury that heightens the guest experience at XV Beacon. As one of only a few female General Managers in Boston, Finsilver is also responsible for XV Beacon’s signature restaurant, Mooo…

Finsilver recently led a property-wide “refreshment” in anticipation of XV Beacon’s 10th Anniversary on New Year’s Eve 2010, redesigning and sprucing up many areas throughout the historic Beaux Arts building while adding value for guests – such as new Lexus courtesy cars to the complimentary sedan service and new environments for workout and play in the fitness space and roof deck. She has also made the hotel a model of conscientious hospitality in Boston, enhancing XV Beacon’s philanthropic efforts by donating 100% of fees from the new Pet Pampering Program to the MSPCA and implementing “green” efforts to encourage onsite recycling, water and energy conservation.

Finsilver got her start in the industry in 1989 at Marriott Long Wharf Hotel in Boston, enjoying an eight-year run as Director of Guest Services that included her induction into Les Clef’s d’Or, USA. Ms. Finsilver moved on to Chief Concierge at Four Seasons Hotel Boston. She first joined XV Beacon as Assistant General Manager in 1999. Over three years, she helped oversee the hotel’s opening and was responsible for budget planning, employee training, guest services and assisting in managing the Wine Cellar’s $6 million inventory. She then moved on to Director of Sales & Special Events at The Olive Group, operated by Chef Todd English, in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Prior to rejoining XV Beacon, she most recently served as Marketing Manager at The Sports Club/LA at Ritz Carlton.

Finsilver lends her expertise outside the hospitality realm as well, consulting on customer service and sales for companies such as The Rallye Motors Group in Glen Cove, New York and Healthworks in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She has also recently engaged in local volunteer efforts including MSPCA Angell Hospital, Young Professionals of the Boston Public Library and the American Heart Association.

Prominently placed and conveniently located, the 60-room XV Beacon is situated in a turn-of-the-20th-century Beaux-Arts building on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Each of the hotel’s rooms is individually designed with Italian-inspired decor. Guests can enjoy either queen-size four-poster beds or king-size beds, in-room fireplaces, high-speed Internet access, 300-thread-count linen sheets, complimentary Lexus sedan service, and museum-quality artwork throughout. Mooo… restaurant and its subterranean Wine Cellar are not to be missed. The latter holds an immense collection of 2,800 selections and 31,000 bottles of fine and rare wine dating from the 1700s to present day.
