Ashford Castle

By Chris Boyle

Aerial View / Ashford Castle

Ashford Castle is set on 350 acres in County Mayo, on the shores of Lough Corrib and the River Cong, with a spectacular backdrop of woodland and water. With a rich history dating back to 1228, and previous owners including the Guinness family, Ashford Castle has entered an exciting new chapter as part of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection.

It features 82 beautifully appointed guestrooms and offers a range of fine country sports including horse riding, fly fishing, an exclusive nine-hole golf course, and Ireland’s first school of falconry. You will find several dining rooms and bars, along with a traditional afternoon tea service. Head Chef Stefan Matz, twice voted Ireland’s Chef of the Year, provides top-class cuisine using the finest local ingredients.
