In a highly detailed work of wearable art, Corum places a superb miniature 18K gold sculpture within a watch. While the brand has occasionally created dragons inside its square Golden Bridge watches, this marks the first time the fantastical beast graces a round watch; the case shape gives the artists more room to work and bring it to life. The finely sculpted gold dragon intertwines itself around Corum's famous vertical in-line movement. Top artisans spend hundreds of hours hand-engraving the dragon and work in tandem with the watchmakers during its creation. First, they developed the dragon's shape so it properly embraces the movement. Then, it was finely hand-polished, finished with a pearl (the tail curls around it) and two rubies as eyes. It offers hours and minute indications and 40 hours of power reserve.

Since 1955, Corum established boldness and creativity as its guiding principle, leading it to have the aesthetic acclaim it has today. Founded in arts center, La Chaus-de-Fonds, this Swiss brand borrows from both the virtuosities of this mountain village and the seductiveness of its summits and is shown in even the first of its timepieces. The Chinese Hat debuted in 1958 in an almond shape. It was eye-catching and evocative. The ridged texture of the piece, inspired by straw and bamboo leaves, similarly shows command of craft.Though innovation has spurred Corum to create even more technically advanced timepieces, the arresting artfulness of its watch design remains. A significant piece made in the modern day is the Golden Bridge Stream. Powered by automatic movement and combining cutting-edge micromechanics with monumental architecture, the transparent intricacy of the linear mechanism at the watch's center impresses both the engineer and art enthusiast. The newest of this line includes the Golden Bridge Round Dragon, a fierce and flamboyant piece that can be galvanized in any Pantone color.
