London’s celebrated dining venue Sushisamba and the iconic British designer Vivienne Westwood have announced a collaboration in which they’ll be hosting an exclusive dinner this November in the restaurant’s private dining room. Hosted in aid of Cool Earth, the event’s proceeds will assist the environmental charity in working alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction.
Before the charity dinner takes place on November 7th, members of the public have the chance to bid in an online auction for a coveted place at the meal hosted by Vivienne Westwood herself. Building on the partnership Sushisamba and Cool Earth established in 2016, the dinner will also see the launch of a new limited-edition dish created by the restaurant’s head chef Claudio Cardoso who took inspiration from Vivienne Westwood and the rainforest. As diners tuck into Cardoso’s specially curated menu, both Cardoso and Westwood will share their insights and stories from their visits to the Peruvian rainforest where they witnessed Cool Earth’s pioneering work with local communities.
Cardoso’s ‘Rain Forest Revolution’ dish shows the inspiration the chef has taken from Vivienne Westwood’s Climate Revolution Playing Cards in its presentation. Replicating the card design in edible form, the dish will be served for the first time at the charity dinner before being made available on the Sushisamba menu for a limited time; a portion of this dish’s profits will then go to Cool Earth.
In addition to providing the opportunity to win two tickets at to this charity dinner, the online auction will enable people to bid for a series of additional experiences, including tickets to the Vivienne Westwood 2018 fashion show complete with a meet and greet with the designer, and a dinner for two at Sushisamba London with the chance to meet chef Cardoso.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dame Vivienne Westwood says: “I support the charity Cool Earth and their plan to save the rainforest, which is working. We need your support, the faster the better. To show your support for the charity, I encourage you to visit Sushisamba after 8th November and experience this dish and all that it stands for.”
Chef Cardoso then adds: “It has been a privilege to work with someone as creative and passionate as Vivienne Westwood on this project. Having visited the Amazon earlier this year, Cool Earth is a charity very close to my heart and I hope we can once again raise significant funds for them through this auction.”
