What is Davos?
The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual winter meeting for five days is held in Davos, a mountain resort in Graubünden, in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland. While the formal name for the event is the WEF, many refer to it by it’s nickname Davos. The meeting unites approximately 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals, and journalists for up to five days to share insights and innovations on how best to navigate the future.
The Annual Meeting in Davos Klosters remains the foremost creative force for engaging the world’s top leaders in collaborative activities focused on shaping the global, regional and industry agendas.
When does Davos start?
This year’s event runs from January 22 – 25 2019.
What happens at Davos?
Each year heads of state and representatives from over 70 countries make their way to Davos. While journalists also attend enmasse, you can also expect to hear from some of the world’s greatest business minds, with the summit attracting everyone from Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P500 CEOs right through to financial regulators, central bankers and Wall Street traders.
These people will then take part in a number of pannels and discussions, ranging on everything from talks on mental health and LGBTQ Identity to the digital economy (most likely cryptocurrency and the future of finance) and healthcare and energy.
