In the wilderness lies true beauty; this is the thought behind Coco Shambhala Sindhudurg, a new cluster of luxury villas in the pristine district of Sindhudurg, just a two-hour journey from Goa. Following on from the boutique property Coco Shambhala Goa, this new resort will combine the luxury of each sea-facing villa, with the beauty of the wild surroundings they’re situated in, a luxurious spa and lavish gastronomy.
It was the director of Coco Shambhala Goa, Giles Knapton, who came across this patch of land in Sindhudurg on India’s Konkan Coast. Here, ruins of ancient forts are tucked into the pristine forest, which lies alongside a coastline of peaceful beaches with bountiful marine life. Staying at Coco Shambhala Sindhudurg makes spotting whales from the coast possible too.
The intimate resort encompasses just four villas, and each of these is unique in its architecture and design, while sitting harmoniously in their natural surroundings. Raised above the ground on tall columns, each villa boasts two bedrooms with private balconies that afford panoramic sea views, along with an open-living pavilion and a private infinity pool. Each of these then sits within tropical gardens.
In addition to these four villas, the resort encompasses a tranquil Coco Shambhala Spa with sea views, and a culinary offering to match that of Coco Shambhala Goa, which has established a reputation for fresh seafood in seasonal dishes celebrating the tropics and India’s west coast.
Here, it’s the attention to detail that the resort’s team takes pride in, with attention paid on developing the district sustainably, while working with the local community, training local staff and bringing local cooks in to teach their chefs how to prepare authentic cuisine of the region.
Coco Shambhala Sindhudurg officially opens in April 2017. Find out more by going over to sindhudurg.cocoshambhala.com.
