An ice rink isn’t normally a sight you’d expect to encounter in the Maldives but that’s exactly what you can now see at the luxury island resort Jumeirah Vittaveli. This December, the resort will be launching an eco-friendly winter wonderland for guests to revel in throughout the festive season.
As well as marking a first for the idyllic region by creating the Maldives’ first ever ice rink, the resort will be hosting carnival themed celebrations including lavish gala dinners at Samsara Beach and a series of live music and dance acts, as well as a visit from Santa Claus on Christmas day, followed by New Year’s celebrations encompassing music, fire dancers and a fireworks display.
In line with the resort’s conservation philosophy as a Green Globe certified property, the ice rink has been designed for complete sustainability too, while enabling you to glide across the ice in the warmth of the tropics. Produced for the resort by Glice®, the rink’s ice utilizes molecular technology that ensures it can function entirely without water and at a zero-energy level.
Amit Majumder, the resort’s general manager, comments: “Jumeirah Vittaveli is constantly creating unique and innovative ways to make the resort appealing to guests. In addition to the ice rink, we also have some exciting updates in our rooms and dining outlets, which we will announce in 2018.”
