The holiday season in New York City calls for a little indulgence, and what better way to celebrate than with caviar and champagne? Krug Champagne, Sturia Caviar and Zuma New York have joined forces to create a special caviar service, available only until New Year’s Eve.
Taking inspiration from Zuma’s beloved dessert presentation, a large wooden and earthenware platter holds 30g of Sturia Oscietra Grand Cru Caviar, a half bottle of Krug Grand Cuvée Champagne and Japanese accompaniments. The innovative pairing features nori and matcha rice crackers made in-house as well as truffle soboro, crispy rice pearls and wakamono. After trying the caviar and champagne alone, experiment to find your personal favorite creation — mine was caviar with a little truffle soboro atop a rice cracker, but enjoying the caviar on the spoon with a touch of the condiments is also lovely, and allows the flavor of the caviar to shine through even more. The chefs recommend finishing with a bite of wokamono, a preserved Japanese peach. Krug Grand Cuvée complements the flavors of the caviar, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself ordering another half bottle. Enjoy the service on its own in the upstairs lounge or as a prelude to Zuma’s decadent tasting menu which highlights its signature dishes.
The caviar service is $250 for two people and is available at Zuma New York until December 31, 2018.
