Discover the Passion Behind Palmaz Vineyards

By Elite Traveler

Nestled in the Coombsville AVA in Napa Valley just outside of the town of Napa, Palmaz Vineyards has a history that dates back to the Gold Rush era of the 1800s.

Today, it is proudly owned and operated by two generations of a family that has brought innovation, creativity, and hospitality to the culture of wine, and ancient art of winemaking.

Their background in the sciences, passion for living life to the fullest and years of backbreaking work have resulted in a truly unique winery situated inside an 18-story cave that combines cutting-edge technology with a respect for winemaking tradition and culture.

The Palmaz family philosophy focuses on love of the land, knowledge of the grape, and winemaking that honors both. The family’s unique brand of hospitality effortlessly merges California wine country casual with their traditional Argentinian culture and heritage, in a warm yet grand manner at the Palmaz estate.

Members of their private wine club, the Brasas Food & Wine Society not only enjoy Palmaz Vineyards wines but gain exclusive access to unparalleled events that give them the most familial and luxurious winery experiences. Many of the incredibly popular celebrations sell out quickly including The Big Pan, featuring paella made in a custom 5ft pan, and The Asado, a feast around the fire that explores the glories of great wine and traditional outdoor grilling of meat paired specifically with newly released Cabernet Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The most intimate events, reserved for Brasas members, are the Family Table dinners. The dinners bring Brasas members and their guests to the table with members of the Palmaz family for a five-course food and wine tasting featuring the seasonal bounty from the estate gardens and wines; both current and library vintages.

A recent meal consisted of Balsamic Roasted Pears with Butter Lettuce and Parmigiano Reggiano paired with 2017 Louise Riesling; Pan-roasted Petrale Sole with Grapes, Pistachios and Lemon Brown Butter paired with 2017 Amalia Chardonnay; Seared Filet Mignon with Roquefort Demi Glace; Braised Garden Chard and Creamy Polenta paired with 2016 Palmaz Estate Cabernet, and Rosemary Roasted Figs Almond Tuille Cup with Whipped Mascarpone paired with a 2016 Florencia Muscat.

Sitting at the table and sharing a meal with the Palmaz family gives guests an opportunity to speak directly with multiple generations of the family and hear about the tribulations and joys of a livelihood dedicated to making great wine and honoring the land from which it is grown.
