Picture New York and there’s perhaps only one building that stands out – even against that famous skyline. For a city that is ever-evolving, since its completion in 1931, the Empire State Building has remained as the city’s reigning Art-Deco emblem. And now, what has formed as the backdrop to many a New York movie or souvenir postcard, can be the view from your living room, at this triplex Penthouse in Flatiron House.
The seven-bedroom Penthouse boasts sweeping 360-degree views, so any guests new to the city can quickly tick off the Clocktower, Flatiron Building and One World Trade Center from just one look out from the property’s floor-to-ceiling windows. Located just half a block from Madison Square Park, it’s not just good for the Manhattan views, but Flatiron House also affords its residents convenient access to some of the city’s best restaurants, hotels, museums, galleries, and more.

Spanning 23rd to 24th street in the historic Manhattan district of Flatiron, Cookfox Architects included several design elements that nod to the surrounding Ladies’ Mile Historic District, running through the building’s exterior and into the residences. Throughout the Penthouse property, there are warm, layered design palettes of rich browns, natural textures and bronze accents, with features such as American walnut doors and oak flooring.
Take the elevator to the 25th floor and enter directly into the Penthouse’s gracious entry gallery, where a sweeping staircase connects both levels of the residence. With almost 6,500 sq ft of interior space across the whole property, there’s plenty of room for entertaining New York’s elite, and on this floor, a grand open-plan living and dining room is the perfect place to show off those 360-degree views, accentuated by the floor-to-ceiling windows. A secondary formal living and dining room with a wet bar and an additional media room provides the space and versatility for more intimate gatherings.
The chef’s kitchen feels light and airy, mostly due to its surrounding windows drenching the space in light, but also reflected by the use of oak, ribbed glass cabinetry, and Calacatta Lincoln marble slab countertops and backsplashes. Equally impressive with its tech offerings, the kitchen is fitted with a Thermador six-burner and two oven gas ranges, a Bosch speed oven and dishwasher, a Gaggenau refrigerator/freezer and a full-height wine refrigerator.

Two bedrooms – each offering Empire State Building views – can be found on the 25th floor, but for the remaining four and the primary suite, you’ll need to go to the property’s lower level. Measuring nearly half a floor in size, in the south-east corner of the Penthouse, the primary suite offers unrivaled and direct views of the Clocktower, in addition to its oversized walk-in closet and its five-windowed ensuite, featuring a custom double-sink vanity, heated marble floors and separate water closet by Toto.
Of course, the Penthouse’s 1,200 sq ft of private outdoor space is equally impressive and makes use of the Flatiron House’s postcard-esque views. A second staircase from the grand open-plan living room on the 25th floor brings you to the expansive private roof terrace. Fitted with an outdoor kitchen and fully planted loggia running the entire east facade, it offers ample space and views for any New York night.
