Milan, Italy – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
Kicking off the company’s 90th anniversary, Gucci announced an exciting collaboration with fellow Italian design powerhouse Fiat during Fashion Week in Milan: The new 500 by Gucci is a special edition of the classic Fiat 500, fully customized by Gucci creative director Frida Giannini with Fiat’s Centro Stile.
The sleek, retro-inspired auto features a bold black and white color scheme, from the glossy pearl glass paint job on its exterior to the ivory and black Frau leather interiors and satin chrome detailing. The house’s unmistakable interlocking GG graces the hubcaps, while the cursive “Gucci” signature is emblazoned on both the hatchback and doorpost.
“In the ‘50s the Fiat 500 created a style revolution when it first hit the road. It quickly became the must-have car of its time,” said Gucci’s Giannini. “Traveling in style has also been at the heart of Gucci ever since Guccio Gucci founded his company as a producer of leather trunks, suitcases and handbags in 1921. So, when Lapo Elkann suggested the idea of this collaboration it struck me as a perfect opportunity to create a new modern travel statement in Gucci’s 90th anniversary year.”
The 500 by Gucci will be on display from March 3rd to 13th at the Geneva International Auto Show, as well as in exclusive locations in cities like Paris, London and Tokyo, leading up to the European commercial launch in July.
