Club Suite at Café Royal Hotel
Café Royal Hotel is launching six suites that pay tribute to the building’s former use as one of London’s most renowned dining rooms, frequented by the likes of Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, David Bowie and Princess Diana.
Each suite—Empire, Dome, Club, Celestine, Tudor, and Marquis—is inspired by original features and has a unique aesthetic. At about 656 square feet, the Empire Suite is the largest and most luxurious of the six. With a spacious living room, sweeping views of Regent Street, and gilded accents, the space has a refined and enchanting ambiance. The Dome Suite, on the other hand, offers a modern rock ’n’ roll atmosphere. Situated on the top floor of the hotel, the circular, open-plan suite features a DJ booth and spacious terraces with panoramic views of Westminster, Big Ben, and Piccadilly Circus.
Café Royal was founded in 1865 by a French wine merchant, and guests can experience this aspect of the hotel’s history in the Club Suite, which pays homage to its French roots. With an empirical palette of blue, red, and gold and portraits of Napoleon, the suite promises to transport guests to nineteenth century France. Its views of Regent Street are similar to those in the Celestine Suite, named after the founder’s wife. This suite offers a perfect blend of intimacy and grandness, with inviting, soft golden tones and velvet accents.
For those looking to fully immerse themselves in English culture, the Tudor Suite offers the perfect escape, steeped as it is in the Elizabethan era. Its original Tudor fireplace, coupled with the mock Tudor panels throughout the suite, transport guests to sixteenth century England. Similarly, the Marquis Suite is bursting with London spirit, with its views of Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, and an original Blomfield-esque fireplace.
Café Royal Hotel consistently meets the old with the new: these historic suites all feature Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems and wireless music connectivity, and the greater hotel has a host of high-tech meeting and event spaces. By late summer 2013, guests will be able to enjoy the offerings at the hotel’s Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre, which will feature a large lap pool and four different areas, corresponding to the four natural elements: spa/water, gym/fire, yoga/air, and organic bar/earth.
