Deep-sea fishing anglers from around the world will gather in Cabo San Lucas next month for Bisbee’s Black & Blue Tournament in Mexico, where it has taken place for more than 30 years.
Started in 1981 by Bob Bisbee, the Black & Blue Marlin Tournament has grown from six teams with a purse of $10,000 to more than 150 teams with millions of dollars on the line.
In 2006, the Black & Blue had its biggest overall cash payout of $4.16 million. This was, and remains, the largest payout in sport fishing history.
Two tournaments are scheduled:
Los Cabos Offsore Charity Tournament on Friday, October 18th – Sunday, October 20th (with two fishing days)
Black & Blue Marlin Tournament on Tuesday, October 22nd – Saturday, October 26th (with three fishing days)
Each tournament has its own personality with the Los Cabos Offshore, nicknamed “Little Bisbee’s” – a social event full of camaraderie where friends can meet, swap stories and get in a couple days of fishing before the “Big Show”.
The Black & Blue Tournament is five days of excitement with thousands of people enjoying the lively scene at the Cabo San Lucas marina with shopping, dining, partying and watching the huge fish being weighed in.
For travelers looking to visit the event, Del Mar Escapes is offering four-bedroom, ocean-view Villas Del Mar Casita 37 at a special rate of $2,500 per night. Private transportation to and from the Cabo San Lucas Marina can be arranged.
