Oyster Yachts Unveils 50-Ft Concept as CEO Shares Future Vision

Oyster Yachts Debuts New 50-Ft Sailboat Concept

At London Private View 2026, CEO Stefan Zimmermann Zschocke shares his vision for the future of bluewater sailing.

While the new 50-ft model is being kept closely under wraps, Oyster Yacht's CEO reveals to Elite Traveler

London’s St Katharine Docks is certainly not short on flashy yachts, but yesterday, April 29, the boat on everyone’s mind was one that does not yet exist.

At its London Private View 2026, bluewater specialist Oyster Yachts revealed the first glimpses of its latest model, a concept set within the 50-ft range.

Currently still in its conceptual phase rather than a fully-realized build, the new design is less about fixed specifications and more about a shift in how space is imagined on board. While details remain closely guarded, speaking to Elite Traveler, CEO Stefan Zimmermann Zschocke described how the yacht “will have even more space and a combination of an interior and exterior environment” – a line that begins to make sense as he sketches out how the boat is intended to be used.

“So, imagine you are in the Mediterranean, and you want to anchor,” he said. “This new model would give you a complete ‘beach club-style’ optimization.” Rather than a single social hub, the layout is conceived as a series of informal zones: “You have different levels of where you can stay – on the platform, or in a more cozy area. On a 50-ft space that has never existed before.”

As a British heritage brand known for its luxurious interiors and a craftsmanship-led approach to sailing, Oyster’s signature hallmarks are all still there: “the seascape windows, the deck, the aft cabin… the true bluewater ambitions,” as Zschocke put it.

Now, that signature aesthetic is paired with a more lifestyle-led approach to onboard living. Crucially, that doesn’t come at the expense of performance. “It’s not only about that space,” he added. “We are always looking at the performance of sailing. It is not a racer, but you still want to make sure you can gain miles over the hours.”

“We have kept the Oyster DNA,” he said, “but we are evolving to where we see the wishes and needs of our owners.”

The concept is just the latest announcement from Oyster, following the news of the Oyster 805 just last year. Billed as the brand’s most ambitious model to date, the customizable long-range cruiser delivers that super-yacht experience in a sub-24m (85ft) ship, with each Oyster 805 made to order. While the brand expects to launch its first hull in 2027, at London Private View, guests were given an early sense of what’s to come through detailed models and renders, alongside the chance to step aboard some of the yard’s most established designs – the Oyster 495, the Oyster 565 Series II, the Oyster 595, and the Oyster 675.

For Zschocke, who has only been in the role of CEO for just over eight months, the focus going forward is as much on direction as it is on design. “We always need to challenge ourselves,” he said. “Is there a wish to do something different? Should we go bigger or smaller? Or should we stay within our product range and evolve from there?”

“It’s not that we will follow every trend,” he added. “We are a luxury brand, and we are proud of what we are doing. We want to grow, but not for the sake of growth. We want to make sure that our brand DNA exists.”
