On March 24, the world honors National Cocktail Day, an annual celebration of all things that fit under the wide umbrella of mixology. While we encourage all those participating in the celebration to imbibe however they see fit, this year, one serve in particular has drawn our attention. From the maestros over at the highly regarded Mexican luxury house, Clase Azul México, comes the new impressive and delectable cocktail, designed for those looking to celebrate life’s finest moments with the artistry they deserve. The Reposado Royale, is the perfect drink to heighten your National Cocktail Day experience.
A few key elements go into the ultimate National Cocktail Day drink. It all starts with the perfect spirit. When it comes to tequila, there is perhaps none more iconic than Clase Azul Reposado. The white and blue ceramic decanter has been spicing up the shelves of the world’s best bars for almost three decades. Today, any self-respecting mixologist usually has a one on hand.
As the most recognizable Clase Azul tequila, Reposado is its signature creation. Aged for eight months in American whiskey casks, this delicious tequila adds notes of cooked agave, candied orange peel, toasted wood and a hint of clove and vanilla to the Reposado Royale.
A close second behind the main base spirit are the additional liqueurs that combine with the base spirit to create an entirely new drink. Here, we have a combination of elderflower and maraschino liqueurs, providing plenty of sweetness and a hint of sourness for a classic combination.

Arriving in mid-May to late June, Elderflowers can often signify the start of summer. With spring now officially in full swing, the addition of elderflower liqueur gives this Clase Azul cocktail an impressively seasonal feel, reminding us that summer is only a few short months away.
The final touch on the Reposado Royale is the addition of a dry sparkling wine, which will both lighten and liven the cocktail up with a few bubbles before it’s finished with a lemon twist for extra style points.
It goes without question that the correct glass choice can make or break a cocktail, so National Cocktail Day makes the perfect opportunity to try out a more unusual glass shape that may have been lacking some love. The pony or Nick and Nora is a small stemmed glass that is often used for serving straight-up cocktails. It’s a little like a coupe or martini glass, however, its smaller size provides a vintage feel.
With all that in order, you should be more than ready to celebrate National Cocktail Day in style. The Reposado Royal from Clase Azul México hits all the marks when crafting a delicious serve, particularly one accessible for the home bartender.
