Each year Veuve Clicquot pays homage to the champagne house’s founder Madame Clicquot by hosting the Veuve Clicquot Widow Series. Now firmly established on the London calendar the event allows Veuve Clicquot to collaborate with creatives who reflect the values of Madame Clicquot. For the 2017 edition, it’s the former editor of French Vogue Carine Roitfeld and her creative team at CR Studio who are set to provide the event’s attendees with a superlative and immersive experience.
This year marks 150 years since Madame Clicquot’s death, making the relevance of the occasion even more prominent. Famous for taking on her late husband’s champagne business after she became a widow, Madame Clicquot is celebrated for pioneering industry firsts, redefining production techniques and creating the first vintage champagne.
As it takes place in October, the event is a celebration of the freedom of expression around Halloween too, and the arts and creative community worldwide. Following on from previous curators, fashion photographer Nick Knight and FKA Twigs, Carine Roitfeld will pour her creativity into curating a private view and VIP party, after which the event will be ticketed for the public.
Carine Roitfeld says of the collaboration: “I’m a story teller; that’s my job as an editor and stylist. This opportunity is completely different, and now my team at CR Studio and I have the opportunity to tell a story with the viewer actually experiencing the story as we tell it. It’s not a party, it’s a truly immersive experience. It’s a different way of thinking.”
The president of Maison Veuve Clicquot Jean-Marc Gallot adds: “We are delighted to be collaborating with iconic visionary Carine Roitfeld and CR Studio for the third installment of the Veuve Clicquot Widow Series. Madame Clicquot herself challenged conventions and was a true innovator of her time. The Maison embraces the attitude Carine has consistently conveyed through her work, her artistic yet audacious aesthetic and fashion leadership over the decades. We welcome another empowering woman into the house of Veuve Clicquot.”
The private view and VIP party will take place on 19th October 2017. More details of the event will be announced in the coming weeks.
