This month Rosewood Hotels & Resorts unveiled its first resort in mainland China, the Rosewood Sanya. Located in Haitang Bay on Hainan Island, the resort is surrounded by greenery and looks out over the South China Sea.
While the landscaped gardens the resort sits within were designed by international architect firm Goettsch Partners, the resort’s interiors were the work of Hong Kong-based design house AB Concept. Every single one of the 246 guestrooms is ocean facing and 45 of them have their own balcony plunge pools. With Rosewood’s Sense of Place philosophy in mind, the contemporary interiors incorporate wood and tribal totems while celebrating the beauty of the ocean.
The resort’s thoughtfully curated collection of art then provides a journey into the creativity inspired by nature with artworks by Argentine artist Carlos Arnaiz, South Korean artist Byun Dae-Young and Chinese artist Ding Hao, as well as sculptures by British artist Thomas Hill and US artist Thomas Givens.
Sense, a Rosewood Spa brings together a wealth of fitness and wellness facilities, from its treatment rooms to its fitness studio, indoor yoga studio and outdoor yoga platform. A 360-ft infinity edge pool overlooking the South China Sea is located high up on the 13th floor.
And this is also where HAI infinity pool cocktail bar lies, one of five restaurants and lounges in the hotel. While the 13th-floor East Kitchen specializes in modern casual cuisine, cocktails and wine are served in the Lounge, the Fishmonger is distinguished by its open kitchens and market-style fare and the Chop House provides grilled produce in an ocean-side setting. Alternatively indulge in a sunset beach barbecue or dinner under the stars.
And giving guests the chance to delve into the authentic local cuisine, the hotel is hosting a Sense of Taste program too, with a private guided tour that gives insight into the region’s culinary identity.
But this is just the beginning; to take a closer look at what Rosewood Sanya has to offer and how to experience the region it’s in, go over to rosewoodhotels.com.
