Elite Traveler’s sister publication Spear’s has revealed its annual index of the finest wealth managers in Britain – the best people to protect and grow the wealth of their high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
The Spear’s Wealth Management Index 2020 is decided on the basis of peer nominations, telephone and face-to-face interviews with dozens of leading wealth managers and private bankers, data supplied by firms, as well as information gathered by the editorial and research teams.
It comes out at a time when wealth management has never been more important. The Covid-19 crisis has wrought havoc on markets worldwide. Trillions of dollars have evaporated over the course of a single quarter and major industries are facing slow and treacherous recoveries.
Spear’s describes the future of wealth management like avoiding fissures on an ice shelf. Many of the wealth managers interviewed believe the next 12 months will be about avoiding the pitfalls that were already present in the economy and exposed by the pandemic.
“We’re viewing the crisis not as something that we just have to navigate through, but a chance to properly construct portfolios for what the world will look like in 2021,’ said Close Brothers” Chris Boon, who features in the HNW wealth management top ten, told Spear’s.
The changes brought by Covid-19 are likely to outlast the threat of the virus itself. Many wealth managers believe the old ways of investing will never return and the pathway forward is still somewhat unclear. There are fundamental questions being asked about how economic recovery will take shape and these are the people most likely to find the right answers.
The list includes a top ten of UHNW and HNW wealth managers as well as a longer list of highly-recommended individuals in both categories. There are three places dedicated to Rising Stars in the industry, a list of the best family office services and a selection of Swiss-based wealth managers.
