When the best part of the watch is inside the case, creative watch brands find ways to showcase that beauty. Girard-Perregaux does this with the new Quasar Light watch, whose incredible case and certain movement parts are engineered to transparency. The watch houses the brand’s iconic Three-Bridges Tourbillon movement with 260 components. However, the master watchmakers create the iconic three bridges using sapphire — no easy feat. The ultra-thin and highly angled bridges take hundreds of hours to machine and polish. In keeping with the spirit of light — in looks and weight — the watch even boasts a ruthenium barrel with scintillating brilliance. The automatic movement is visible via the sapphire caseback. Just 18 pieces will be made.
Price: $294,000 in sapphire
