Aman revealed its first US property this summer in the heart of New York City. The hotel is housed in the historic Beaux-Arts Crown Building at the bustling corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. Legendary designer Jean-Michel Gathy was brought in to create the minimalist interiors which, true to Aman form, are a serene haven away from the bustle of the city. By New York standards the rooms are enormous. Up on the 11th and 12th floors, the largest accommodation of all are the two Aman Suites, which begin at 2,025 sq ft and can be combined with other neighboring suites. The open-plan apartment features pivoting partition walls that connect the expansive living room and study with the bedroom. In winter the suite is especially cozy with its glowing fireplace and heated bathroom floors. There’s also an original art collection on display, complete with a reproduction of Hasegawa Tohaku’s Pine Trees masterpiece.
