The Suite
The Shangri-La Suite occupies the 17th floor, offering a commanding view of the Toronto downtown skyline. The design successfully integrates Eastern sensibility with a substantial contemporary scale. Framed by floor-to-ceiling windows, the main living room uses dark leather sofas and ornate woodwork, set against silk-panelled crimson walls that rise to a recessed ceiling with concealed lighting.
A round dining table, lit by a Baccarat crystal chandelier, evokes the intimacy of a private salon. This area is detailed with ink-brushed artworks by Wang Xuyuan, lacquered cabinetry featuring 'chinoiserie' motifs, and a pantry accessible via a dedicated butler's entrance.
Entry to the primary bedroom is through a carved 'moon gate'—a sculptural portal leading to a four-poster bed. The bed is framed in carved wood, flanked by silk drapery and deep-toned cabinetry. The marble-clad bathroom is designed for ritual: the soaking tub is positioned against the glass for uninterrupted skyline views. It includes dual vanities, a glass-enclosed rain shower, and access to a private terrace, extending the bathing experience into the open air. The primary suite is completed by a walk-in wardrobe with custom cabinetry, a dedicated vanity, and a Peloton bike. A second, equally well-appointed bedroom provides direct views over University Avenue.
The Hotel
Set between the Financial and Entertainment Districts, Shangri-La Toronto occupies a gleaming glass tower with interiors inspired by Asian aesthetics and contemporary design. The lobby is anchored by a grand staircase and rotating art displays, while guest rooms are spacious and filled with natural light. Marble bathrooms, plush textiles and custom furnishings lend a sense of quiet opulence. The hotel also includes a large wellness center with an indoor pool and a serene yoga pavilion. Ideal for business or leisure, it brings a cosmopolitan calm to downtown Toronto.
