The initial collaboration between the luxury resort and series of designers (Christian Louboutin and Matthew Williamson), the bracelet is handmade by single mothers and grandmothers from the Sizwe Umoya group, a community devastated by AIDS and struggling to raise South Africa’s next generation. Bridge For Africa, a Fair Trade organization, dedicates its time to helping these women, and others in similar situations, find self-sufficiency in their Zulu communities. Sales of the bracelets, priced at a mere $40, provide the women with much-needed income while promoting their traditional art form.
Each exclusive bracelet features a central copper wire paired strung with turquoise and gold beads, then outlined by woven copper wire.
