Sofitel So Opens Second Hotel in Bangkok

By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

Bangkok, Thailand – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

On March 1, Sofitel Luxury Hotels proudly unveiled the Sofitel So Bangkok, the second hotel under their Sofitel So label. Renowned Thai architect Smith Obayawat partnered with five of Thailand’s most well-known interior designers, as well as fashion designer Christian Lacroix, to carry out the project. The result is extraordinary: 238 rooms and suites designed to illuminate one of four different earthly elements.

With each room taking on a specific element, guests from differently themed rooms can count on an entirely different experience. The only constant for the guests is that each room comes equipped with an Apple Mac mini. Four elements—water, earth, wood and metal—were used as inspiration for the guest rooms, while fire was saved for the hotel restaurant and dining locales.

Red Oven offers a fairly traditional (and delicious) menu, but expect some modern twists. Park Society Restaurant and Bar, located on the roof of the hotel, offers its guests a breathtaking view to couple their meal. For desert, Chocolab allows guests to create their own chocolate and candy—an experiment they can also bring home with them.

On-site guests will enjoy an infinity swimming pool overlooking the city, and So SPA, a spa created to resemble a mythological forest. Four meeting rooms and a ballroom accommodate events.

Guests who stay within the first 80 days of the opening of Sofitel So Bangkok will receive the “80 dollars, 80 days” deal: An 80-dollar credit per room, per night. The savings may go towards a room upgrade, or be used at any of the hotels facilities.
