Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is pleased to unveil its new swimming pool and deck area, that has been tastefully re-designed by renowned hospitality interior design firm Buz Design and St Legere Design International of Hong Kong. Located on the 5th floor of the hotel, the area has been fashionably transformed to offer guests a sophisticated and luxurious respite from the city.
The revamped pool area is surrounded by lush tropical landscape and has been cleverly raised to different levels to emphasize the spectacular views of Singapore’s city skyline. Lining the upper deck of the swimming pool are five well-appointed, Oriental-inspired private cabanas. Each one is equipped with controlled dimmer lighting, a ceiling fan, iPod dock, Wi-Fi connectivity and an on-call button for food and beverage service.
The 82-foot swimming pool with beautiful Italian glass mosaic designs in shades of calming lilac, blue and purple, is suitable for lap swimming and relaxation, and is further enhanced at night with glittering fiber optic lighting. The underwater benches, hand-sculpted sandstone water features and a contemporary wet deck, allows guests to lounge in the sun whilst still being immersed in the coolness of the water.
Designer Frank Gehry’s stunning lounge furniture makes an additional bold and contemporary statement.
Younger fans of the hotel can enjoy a purpose-built children’s pool with bubble jet water features, which is surrounded by family cabanas and shielded from the main pool to provide more privacy for families.
The new pool area has also benefited both dining and event facilities, which have been greatly enhanced during the refurbishment. A new casual lounge overlooking the city’s most famous landmarks offers breathtaking vistas and sunsets. The relaxed ambience is perfect for enjoying the natural breeze together with signature cocktails and Italian tapas.
A new and sizable lounge cabana has been added providing a further option for relaxation amid comfortable sofas, armchairs and gently whirling ceiling fans. In the evening, this setting becomes an ideal venue for intimate events and private dinners. When a larger event space is required, the Harbour Terrace is a perfect choice. This substantial and flexible space is unique in Singapore, boasting a prime location overlooking the harbor front. With its built-in stage, this impressive venue is ideal for outdoor events at a maximum capacity of 30 tables for sit-down dinners and cocktail receptions for 400 people.
The hotel’s Dolce Vita restaurant located next to the pool now offers enhanced alfresco dining and similarly emphasizes spectacular new views. With accolades for its superb Italian cuisine by Michelin-starred Chef Marco Pedrelli, the restaurant has a popular following and is particularly renowned for its unique à la carte champagne brunches on Saturdays and Sundays.
