From the wars between the Persians and the Greeks, to the fall of Byzantium at the hands of the Ottomans, the Bosphorus has been the focal point of thousands of years of Istanbul’s history.
The Strait marks the boundary between Europe and Asia. It is also the thoroughfare between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, opening out to the Sea of Marmara in the south and the Golden Horn, one of the world’s most famous natural harbors. No trip to Istanbul would be complete without a boat trip on these beautiful, historic waters.
ATAKÖY MARINA
Located at the southern end of the Bosphorus Straits, Ataköy Marina is only four miles from Atatürk international airport and has an on-site heliport.
There are 18 berths for 25-30 meter boats and six berths for boats over 30 meters. In addition to the clubhouse there is a fitness center with sauna, tennis and basketball courts. Unwind in the open-air swimming pool or enjoy an invigorating game of volleyball against the calming backdrop of the Sea of Marmara. The Ataköy Marina Yacht Club organizes international regattas, the most popular being Kayra, the Black Sea Yacht Rally, which draws an international sailing crowd.
