Some hotels pride themselves on being sophisticated, grown-up places; others are adept at keeping the whole family happy regardless of age.

What makes a luxury family-friendly resort? It’s not about giving kids free rein but making people of all ages feel welcome at all times. It’s a delicate balance, of course, with kids and adults sometimes needing their own environments in which to unwind. Parents also need to feel like their kids are safe, whether they’re with them or not.
All of these hotels go way beyond providing a kids club, with amenities including complimentary babysitting, all-day activity planning and restaurants with bespoke kids menus all factoring into our thinking.
And let’s not forget the parents. Raising a child is one of the toughest gigs out there. There’s no point in going on vacation only to come back more tired. A great family hotel doesn’t only cater to the children but knows how to help parents unwind.
In the Top 50 Family Suites, kids clubs come as standard. We’ve looked not only for the largest suites in the finest resorts but specifically at the facilities designed for families. Each of these hotels will have specific programs for families and children, ranging from jungle walks with naturalists to dedicated spa days for youngsters.
As for the suites themselves, many of them have multiple rooms with options to extend further. Some are designed so you never have to leave. Think huge private swimming pools, water slides and game rooms for the kids; private balconies, 24-hour babysitters and wine cellars for the grown-ups. We can’t promise a smooth flight with the whole family in tow, but it’ll be worth it when you get there.

Top 50 Family Suites 2024 – A Preview
Three Bedroom Ocean Residence, JOALI Maldives
The Maldives is fiercely competitive for luxury brands, so it’s impressive that the independently owned Joali Maldives has established itself as one of the best, just two years after opening. Up against the biggest names in the business, this resort sets itself apart with particularly beautiful Maldivian architecture and generously sized villas. The Three-bedroom Ocean Residence is the most generous of all, offering over 10,000 sq ft of overwater luxury. That includes two pools, a private spa room and an expansive outdoor terrace. Children are well catered to with expansive programming that includes cooking classes, storytelling sessions and even a dedicated Kids Spa. Just ask your dedicated jadugar (butler) to organize it and say no more.
The Datai Estate Villa, The Datai Langkawi
Buried deep in an ancient rain forest, The Datai Langkawi is an immersive tropical experience. Guests share the 46-acre site with lemurs and dusky leaf monkeys, some of whom have no qualms about joining you poolside. The timber-framed buildings are designed to blend in with the surrounding flora and guests are encouraged to join daily walks into the dense forest. The Datai Estate Villa, all 37,600 sq ft of it, is the ultimate in in-suite facilities: huge swimming pool, full working kitchen, game room, library, and a spa treatment room. With a 24-hour dedicated butler and private chef available, it is the perfect choice for families intent on staying put. There is no kids club here, but the whole resort is a source of wonder for young minds, and child-friendly walks with the resident naturalists can be organized on request.
Imperial Spa Villa, Porto Zante Villas & Spa
This under-the-radar boutique hotel offers resort-level amenities for just nine villas. Situated on its own stretch of Zakynthos coastline, Porto Zante takes the privacy of its guests seriously. At 4,500 sq ft, with amazing sea views and two private pools, the Imperial Spa Villa has enough amenities and space to keep everyone happy behind closed doors. The suite’s alfresco dining area, complete with sunset views over neighboring Kefalonia, is as dreamy as it gets. However, most will be lured out by the hotel’s private beach and the impressive Japanese restaurant, Maya. The Kids’ Club is open throughout the day and is staffed by highly experienced childcare providers. The hotel also hosts creative off-site adventures for little ones, giving parents the opportunity to make the most of this secret paradise (and the cocktail menu).
The Ritz-Carlton Royal Suite, The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes
The Ritz-Carlton Royal Suite is not only the premier accommodation at Grande Lakes but is one of the most exclusive in Orlando. Within the wider resort, a child’s (or adults alike) paradise awaits, at the state-of-the-art Grande Lakes Waterpark. A focal point amidst the property, this year-round aquatic wonderland boasts a lazy river, thrilling water slides, serene lagoons and an Oasis VIP firepit lounge. For those seeking respite from exhilaration, pool-side luxury cabanas are available for your indulgence.
