The first private members’ club from Rosewood is now open. The highly anticipated Carlyle & Co. in Hong Kong is the inaugural property from the luxury hotel group’s new brand, which aims to redefine the private membership experience.
Private membership clubs historically choose members based on wealth, social status and profession. Carlyle & Co. adopts a fresh approach by choosing its new members based on their personalities, passions, interests and stories. The ambition is to bring together a rich culture of unique individuals, each adding a new dimension to the club’s eclectic cultural calendar. Put simply, hopeful applicants will have to prove they are living life to the fullest.
If accepted, members will be granted access to an exclusive 25,000-sq-ft social sanctuary above Rosewood Hong Kong. Inspired by the iconic Carlyle Hotel in New York, the private space designed by Ilse Crawford of Studioilse harmoniously blends timeless glamour with playful whimsy. Its expansive outdoor terrace boasts sweeping views over Hong Kong’s stunning cityscape. The terrace will play host to a variety of events, but it is just one of a number of striking venues within the club.

Inside, members will find a selection of well-appointed spaces designed to host different events. The music room will hold intimate performances from world-class musicians, the wine cellar is a fitting venue for exclusive tastings of rare vintages and a chef’s table will host intimate fine dining experiences. A games room, barber and dedicated tailor combine to of the ultimate setting for a rounded membership experience.
Rosewood has also brought the Cafe Carlyle concept from the New York hotel. The legendary eatery has been perfecting the quintessential supper club experience for 65 years. Now that same experience will be available in Hong Kong. The Brasserie will offer a more informal dining experience, albeit with a stunning view across the harbor.

“I am thrilled to bring the irrepressible spirit, inimitable style and intangible sense of magic that I fell in love with at The Carlyle in New York to Hong Kong with the inaugural Carlyle & Co.” said Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood. “A progressive concept created for today, Carlyle & Co. will offer a unique experience in the private members’ club landscape while providing the community and connection that people are longing for.”
