South Carolina’s finest Belmond Charleston Place is inviting VIP guests to an unparalleled wine-studying experience this summer.
Centered in Charleston’s historic district and admired as one of the finest hotels in the world, the elegant Belmond Charleston Place is offering a unique experience for VIP guests this summer. Wine U is a special opportunity for wine connoisseurs and novices alike to indulge in a three-day course that will elevate their knowledge of wine. Beginning Friday evening, guests will revel in intriguing programs which will include schooling on a variety of wines, deductive wine tasting, the chemistry of food and wine, and stocking strategies for home wine cellars.
Wine U begins with an “Old World versus New World” welcome reception—featuring an introduction on the program and exotic grape varieties—and concludes on Sunday evening with a blind taste test and “grand pour” with legendary wines from Europe and the New World.
The exclusive $3,000 package includes a three-night stay at the luxurious hotel, wine tastings, opening and closing receptions, a gourmet lunch, and an eight-course dinner at the Forbes Four Star-rated Charleston Grill, arranged by elite Executive Chef Michelle Weaver.
The program’s curriculum will be lead by Rick Rubel, advance sommelier and wine director of Belmond Charleston Place—who curated Charleston Grill’s 1,250-bottle cellar, garnering 19 Awards of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.
For guests’ convenience, the Belmond Charleston Place will offer the special program over two weekends. Participants can choose July 18-20 or August 22-24. Programs are limited to 20 guests.
