Cocktail of the Week: Hendrick’s Inspector Gimlet

By Olivia Cuccaro

By Olivia Cuccaro

Hendrick’s Inspector Gimlet:

  • 1.5 parts Hendrick’s Gin
  • 1 part riesling cordial

To create our cocktail of the week, combine ingredients and stir over ice. Strain into a coupe glass.

Arriving in New York after a long flight and city traffic means heading straight to your suite for some rest and relaxation. You’d opt for the minibar over the hotel bar while you get settled, but it’s a cocktail you’re after and you’re no mixologist…or are you?

The New York Edition has collaborated with Hendrick’s Gin to delight guests in a whimsical take on the minibar experience. Enter one of the hotel’s 38 suites and find a black book and wooden box waiting for you. Upon opening the book, you’ll begin a virtual cocktail lesson led by Hendrick’s East Coast Ambassador, Erik Andersson. A video instructs guests on how to create two Hendrick’s Gin cocktails – the Inspector Gimlet and Caught by the Fizz – utilizing the ingredients housed in the wooden box. First introduced in London, the H.O.T.E.L. (Hendrick’s Ocular Tool for Extraordinary Libations) experience provides a personal bartender and refreshing cocktail, all in the privacy of your suite.

“At Hendrick’s Gin, we strive to offer our consumers with the most uncommon and unusual experiences that can only be associated with the curious world of Hendrick’s,” said Andersson. “The Hendrick’s H.O.T.E.L. provides an unexpected twist to a seriously humdrum experience that is the hotel minibar, and allows guests the opportunity to create deliciously drinkable cocktails in the comfort of their own suite.”

We recommend concocting your Inspector Gimlet in one of the luxurious penthouse suites. Spanning 1,400 sq ft, each penthouse boasts a panoramic view of the city from large windows offering ample natural light. Neutral tones complement light hardwood floors and silk drapery for an urban-retreat feel. Each suite features its own private dining room, kitchen, bedroom with king-size bed, bathroom with with rainforest shower and natural stone soaking tub.

“Edition is so proud and excited to introduce the incredible Hendricks cocktail cart,” said Ben Pundole, VP Brand Experience for Edition Hotels, in speaking to Elite Traveler. “An interactive ‘how to make delicious cocktails’ book [and] video to delight and enchant our guests. Truly unique, really fun and entirely surprising.”

The New York Edition is located at 5 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10010. Hendrick’s Gin H.O.T.E.L. is set to expand to The Miami Beach Edition in the fall. For more information, please visit editionhotels.com.
