As the major 17-month refurbishment of Hotel Eden came to an end, the grand hotel reopened with a flourish at the beginning of the April 2017. Bringing together influence from Rome’s heritage and contemporary appeal, the Dorchester Collection hotel has now revealed its restored rooms and suites, redesigned restaurants and an entirely new spa.
Tucked into the old city of Rome, just moments from the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese, Hotel Eden affords views of one of the most historic parts of the city, as well as reflecting the heritage it stands amidst; dating back to 1889, Hotel Eden boasts a history of hosting royalty, dignitaries and celebrity guests, and now the hotel strives to live up to its prestigious past through its lavish interiors and the exclusive experience a stay here affords.
World renowned architect and interior designers Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille of 4BI & Associates, and Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku from Jouin Manku, were behind the extensive renovation of the hotel’s 98 guestrooms and suites – reduced from 121 to give guests more space – a brand new restaurant and bar concept, and the hotel’s first urban spa and blow-dry bar.
While carefully preserving the spirit of the hotel, each of the architects and designers paid particular attention to accentuating the natural light, making the most of the building’s high ceilings and tall windows with views across Rome. Representative of this is the hotel’s most exclusive suite, the Bellavista Penthouse, which is characterized by the panoramic views afforded by its floor-to-ceiling windows.

The pinnacle of the new restaurant and bar concept is the top-floor fine dining restaurant La Terrazza where modern Mediterranean cuisine by award-winning executive chef Fabio Ciervo comes with city views, drawing on traditional Italian craftsmanship for the restaurant’s interior.
The all-day dining venue Il Giardino Ristorante & Bar then stands out for its abstract vertical garden designed to complement the views, where light, healthy Italian cuisine is the focus at breakfast, lunch and dinner. And as the light of the day fades, guests can head to La Libreria secret bar for creative cocktails in an intimate setting.
One of the hotel’s most significant additions though is the new Eden Spa. Offering holistic experiences and therapies from Sonya Dakar and Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, this new urban spa provides guests with yet another reason to experience Hotel Eden as it enters an exciting new chapter.
