Los Cabos, Mexico – Reported by Elite Traveler, the Private Jet Lifestyle Magazine
A new generation of brides-to-be are changing the wedding industry with concern and consciousness for the environment. Couples choose to share their love for each other as well their passion for the planet through a new phenomenon called “green weddings.” An innovator in the world of tourism and hospitality, Los Cabos offers eco-conscious couples a variety of options for hosting the perfect green wedding as many of the destination’s world-class hotels and resorts have developed packages.
The Barceló Los Cabos Palace Deluxe offers brides and grooms several options to incorporate green elements into their destination wedding. Utilizing the natural beauty of the surrounding environment, couples can choose one of the outdoor wedding sites offered by Barceló Los Cabos including the white sand beach, seaside gazebos or the lagoons, thus reducing their energy use by having the wedding during the day. Catering services for the reception will include organic produce, organic cakes, domestic wines and organic tequilas. End the festivities with an eco-friendly fireworks display, designed to produce less smoke and reduce the number of toxic metals that are normally left in the soil or water.
The “Hotel with a Heart,” Marquis Los Cabos, gives back to the earth by providing eco-conscious couples with a Green Weddings package. This eco-friendly resort includes a lush bridal bouquet using locally grown organic flowers, local Baja wine, fruits and vegetables grown at a local organic farm for the wedding banquet, natural décor including organic centerpieces and an eco-friendly bonfire. Couples will also receive the wedding reception dinner and drinks, daily meals from any of the restaurants, unlimited drinks from the on-site bars and a special green turndown service using the resort’s Green Hotel Program. As a special gift, guests at the wedding will be able to release a baby turtle as a way of wishing the bride and groom the best of luck while helping the turtle protection program.
Pueblo Bonito Oceanfront Resorts & Spa’s four Los Cabos properties are perfect locations to celebrate with a green wedding. The on-site wedding coordinators will make suggestions to the couple on how to create the perfect green wedding from beginning to end. The resort will print the couples programs on 100% recycled paper and have them all collected at the end of the ceremony so that they can be recycled. All flowers are bought from local and organic farms or potted plants are used as centerpieces that can be given as gifts for guests to take home. All of the food prepared on-site can be made with local and organically grown ingredients and are served on real plates, with cloth napkins so that there is no waste from the meal. Prior to the wedding, the on-site coordinator will also suggest going green with invitations by printing everything on 100% recycled paper, using a reply postcard that saves on paper and money and creating a website with all of the wedding information to cut down on inserts of paper. Additionally, each Pueblo Bonito property is socially and environmentally conscious as well as Green Globe certified.
Additionally, some resorts currently offer special “green” components such as the Presidente Intercontinental Los Cabos’ special turtle release program for couples and the Westin Resort & Spa Los Cabos which offers the bride and groom the option of eco-friendly décor and favors and the use of organic products for the reception menu.
