During the Oktoberfest festival in Munich from September 19 to October 4, Lufthansa will treat its customers to special fares, Bavarian menus, small giveaways and more. Every traveler willing to experience flying “à-la-bavaroise” will enjoy the great variety of Lufthansa’s seasonal specials.
The celebration also extends to Lufthansa’s on-board service. The on-board décor in First Class will be coordinated with the Bavarian colors blue and white and an additional audio channel will play Bavarian tunes. First Class passengers on all long-haul flights from Munich will experience Bavarian specialties, such as duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings or mushroom ragout. Dessert includes Bavarian cream with fruit skewers or hot plum strudel with soft cheese. First Class passengers will also be given a souvenir beer mug.
In Business Class, passengers will receive an attractive Bavarian scarf, while Economy Class guests will be offered a spicy Lebkuchen heart to complete the Bavarian menu. On domestic German and European routes, passengers will be given Bavarian sweets and a special Oktoberfest praline.
On select flights, Lufthansa crew will wear typical Bavarian outfits especially designed for the season. An annual tradition, the special crew will debut on flights from Munich to Los Angeles on September 16th, from Los Angeles to Munich on September 19th, and from Munich to Boston on September 26th, returning to Munich on September 28th.
Travelers passing through Lufthansa’s Munich hub also have a chance to see airport staff members wearing their own Bavarian garb throughout the festival. This tradition dates back 50 years, when Lufthansa staff members first swapped their uniforms for traditional Bavarian attire. The 2009 crew received customized garb sponsored by fashion label Loden-Frey, crafted in Lufthansa’s blue and yellow colors.
