Elbow Beach, Bermuda – Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine
Studded with more than 500 shipwrecks dating from the 1500s, Bermuda is a diver’s paradise. The Adventure Camp at Elbow Beach, Bermuda, a Mandarin Oriental managed property, is delighted to offer a Junior PADI Scuba Diver certification course in association with onsite dive company, Blue Water Divers.
Elbow Beach, Bermuda is an ideal location to learn how to scuba dive with its temperature-controlled swimming pool and dive shop located on property. The Junior PADI course can be completed with two full-day sessions or three half-day sessions. The course begins with theory classes that can either be completed online in advance, or accomplished with the instructor in person. Next, children will learn how to use scuba equipment in the safety of the resort pool. The instructor will guide them through proper equipment use, followed by training on how to enter and exit the water, as well as practicing complete submersion. The course ends with two open water ocean dives accompanied by an instructor in which children will get to dive amongst shipwrecks and coral reefs.
The Adventure Camp Junior PADI Scuba Diver certification course is recommended for children ages 10 to 14 ($420 per child). Children who participate in the course must be able to swim and will be asked to complete an 800-meter swim test prior to beginning the pool dive session. A Medical PADI form must be completed before the child can participate in the course. Led by a PADI-certified instructor, the Junior PADI Scuba Diver certification course has a depth limitation of 40 feet and requires doing future dives while accompanied by a certified diver. Blue Water Divers also offers Adult Scuba Diver Certification courses allowing families to become certified at the same time for future dive vacations or return visits to Bermuda.
