The Montblanc & Signature International Cultural and Charitable Photo Project features the portraiture photography of American photographer Roger Moenks to benefit UNICEF’s education and literacy programs, including internationally known actors Emily Blunt, Marcia Cross, Andie MacDowell, Helen Hunt, Lauren Hutton, Milla Jovovich, Jessica Lange, Eva Longoria, Sienna Miller, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and Mira Sorvino who support this initiative. From an original concept of Signature International, each was photographed portraying her favourite literary heroine, celebrating the art of writing. Montblanc has set the goal of raising over $1.5 million for UNICEF in 2009 through the auction of the images as well as through other global fundraising initiatives. This commitment was marked at the L.A. Charity Gala during Oscars week in February 2009 when Academy Award Winner Reese Witherspoon made a joint donation with Montblanc to UNICEF of $100,000 USD to mark the beginning of a year of giving.
As Montblanc International CEO Lutz Bethge explains, “The support of the children without proper access to education cannot stop when times are tough. We are very proud to benefit from the support of these 12 extraordinary ladies to take our work with UNICEF one step further and enhance our joint commitment in supporting education programmes around the world. Montblanc stands for credibility, trust, reliability and long lasting values, we therefore take our commitment to UNICEF very seriously.”
