By Pardhasaradhi Gonuguntla

LAKE PLACID, NY – The Whiteface Lodge Resort & Spa announced the appointment of Douglas Marlowe Barg as Executive Chef of the resort’s culinary operations. Chef Barg will oversee all of the resort’s sophisticated dining programs including the culinary selections at Kanu, one of Lake Placid’s most celebrated restaurants.

“We are honored to welcome Chef Barg to our family at The Whiteface Lodge,” said Mike Straube, East Coast Regional Director of Operations of Gemstone Hotels and Resorts, the management company for The Whiteface Lodge. “With an extensive knowledge of the local Adirondack fare, Chef Barg will be using his expertise to refine and grow our seasonal farm-to-table themed menu, celebrating American Cuisine that speaks to the local community.”

With an impressive background in the hospitality and culinary industry, including seven years as Executive Chef of the Topnotch Resort and Spa in Stowe, VT, Barg’s accolades include Banquet Chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach and Executive Chef for The Chesterfield Hotel, a luxury boutique property in Palm Beach.
