Situated within the southernmost atoll of the Maldives, Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa lies on its own private island with a lush interior that’s fringed with pristine white sand shores and surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Drawing on the beauty and seclusion of these natural surroundings, Shangri-La encourages the resort’s guests to connect with the elements, while simultaneously reconnecting with themselves.
CHI, The Spa, takes inspiration from the original Shangri-La legend, making it a place of personal peace, enchantment and wellbeing. And this sanctuary sits within its own pocket of the island, with individual villas for spa treatments, amid private gardens. Body massage, hydrotherapy, body movement, and movement of the mind all form the basis of this spa’s philosophy, which ultimately places the focus on assisting the body’s natural renewal. Here, treatments range from stone therapy and reflexology massage, to Ayurvedic therapies.
The resort’s seclusion and spa facilities combined make it ideal for a rejuvenating island retreat and escape from the stresses of modern life. And now this experience is being elevated with the arrival of London’s most sought after intuitive healer and motivational speaker, Jody Shield, who will be taking up a 10-day residency to provide guests with her wellbeing expertise.
From the 12th to 22nd April 2017 each guest will be offered a personalized wellness journey, encompassing Jody’s guidance in holistic healing, as well as life-coaching with a focus on relieving stress, fear and anxiety. Meditation workshops and motivational talks aim to instil deeper awareness and inner calm, while giving guests the knowledge they need to implement the same practice into everyday life.
Throughout 2017, the resort and spa will also be collaborating with Yogasphere, inviting top yoga teachers to take up residence on the island, enabling guests to set out on a yoga journey that’s been tailored to suit their abilities. And in addition to joining in on these yoga sessions, guests can opt for a healthy eating plan of organic herbs and fresh vegetables from the chef’s garden, locally sourced seafood, and Ayurvedic root waters, making a retreat here even more rewarding.
