Check your world timer for New York this weekend as the watch event of the season arrives in the city. For the third year running, the event is set to bring the latest and greatest in luxury timepieces in front of experts and enthusiasts alike. This year’s show welcomes 30 of the world’s most prominent brands to the Gotham Hall venue, inviting those in attendance to see and try on watches — some for the very first time.
WatchTime New York kicks off today with a cocktail party sponsored by Wempe, followed by tomorrow’s full day of seminars including an ode to James Bond’s watches and a panel featuring industry leaders Ruediger Albers (president, Wempe USA) and Nicholas Manousos (president, Horological Society of New York).
The weekend’s excitement includes the launch of new watches as well as first US appearances for certain timepieces. From British brand Graham comes an eight-piece, limited-edition Orrery Tourbillon featuring a 300-year calendar. Bremont debuts its first moonphase, the limited-edition Bremont 1918 (more on that here), while Romain Gauthier unveils its Insight Micro-Rotor limited-edition models in red gold with black dial, red gold with blue dial and platinum with white dial.
New York is the first US city to see four new Blue Series watch models from A Lange & Söhne: Lange 1, Lange 1 Daymatic, Saxonia and Saxonia Automatic. Speake-Marin’s Crazy Skull tourbillon minute repeater is also introduced to the US, as well as Tag Heuer’s Monaco Gulf Special Edition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the McQueen Monaco once worn by actor Steve McQueen. Along with new innovations comes a nod to the historic, as attendees can preview Longines Avigation BigEye Pilot Watch, a 1930s era chronograph reissue, before it becomes available for purchase.
WatchTime New York runs from October 13 to 14, 2017. The event is located at Gotham Hall, 1356 Broadway, New York, NY 10018. For tickets and more information, please visit watchtimenewyork.com.
