Set within a penthouse 700 ft in the sky, Gallery 181 sits above some of San Francisco’s most exclusive residences. Already home to an impressive 200-strong permanent collection, now a brand-new pop-up exhibition has been launched from the Marianne Boesky Gallery.
Running January 17 through March 17, the show is set to coincide with the city’s FOG Design+Art Fair at the Fort Mason Center.
“We are particularly excited to bring this selection of work to San Francisco during FOG Design+Art, which is such an important moment for art and design in San Francisco,” Marianne Boesky said.
“The artists we are exhibiting all employ distinct and innovative technological processes in their practices. We look forward to showing these works – some for the first time in the artist’s career – in the country’s tech capital.”

Among the artists’ work on display at Gallery 181 is Pier Paolo Calzolari. The Italian painter and sculptor is known for including organic materials in his works to build texture and depth, spanning everything from salt and gold leaf to tobacco and oyster shells.

Sarah Meyohas will also be showing her works for the first time in San Francisco. The French-American visual artist made a name for herself with her striking photographs, films, installations and sculptures that explore emerging technologies within contemporary society.
The pop-up exhibition will feature works by American painter, sculptor and printmaker Frank Stella whose work is in the collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. An early adopter of digital modeling in the 1990s, he uses these techniques to craft striking 3D abstract works.
Also no stranger to displaying their works in San Francisco are The Haas Brothers. Twins Simon and Nikolai are known for their playful sculptural works that blur the boundaries between art and design. The Marianne Boesky show at Gallery 181 will feature a series of pieces from their latest series of anthropomorphic sculptures made from bronze.
